Kid Proverb Contest Rules


Imogene’s Kid Proverb Contest Rules

1. Imogene’s Kid Proverb Contest is open to residents of the 50 United States and District of Columbia, ages 4-9. One entry per child.

2. Submission should be an original one sentence proverb.

3. Submissions must be received on or before Tuesday, November 25, 2014 to be considered for a prize.

4. Entries will be judged by a panel of teachers and librarians in two age categories:

              Ages 4-6

              Ages 7-9

Judges will be looking for originality, creativity, humor, content suitable for young readers, and wise advice appropriate for the age of the writer.

5. One winning entry from each category will be announced in the contest section of, on Monday, December 1. Winners will be notified at the parents’ email address (provided on the entry form) on or before December 1. Upon notification, the author, Denette Fretz, will ask for an address to mail to the winners: 

            1.  A $50.00 Visa gift card

            2.  An autographed copy of Conrad and Cowgirl Next Door

            3.  A bandana

6. By submitting an entry, the parent or legal guardian of the child agrees to the rules listed above and to the following:

I have reviewed the rules of the contest. The submitted “kid proverb” is the original, unpublished work of the named child and has received no previous awards. I grant Denette Fretz and the right to use the submitted kid proverb as well as the child’s first name, age, and home state for any and all advertising and promotion. I give any and all right, title, interest, and copyright of submitted works to Denette Fretz and
