Winners of the “Write Like a Pirate” Contest

Ratty & Pooch

The Winners

Congratulations to the following students who have each won a $50.00 Visa Gift Card, an autographed copy of Pirates on the Farm, and an eye patch.

Please read these creative and charming stories by clicking on each title, below.

Age Category

6-7                   “A Piratey Diary” by Nathan from Maryland

8-9                   “The Pirate Princess and the Lost Treasure” by Andi from North Carolina

10-11               “Polly Never Be Wantin’ a Cracker” by Maggie from Tennessee

Of the three winners, Andi’s name was randomly drawn from a hat (ok, a pie plate). She will be offered an opportunity to Skype with the author.

Although not an overall winner, honorable mention goes to eight-year-old Faith from Ohio, who wrote my favorite sentence:

“The entire town was happy to see a bunch of books in the treasure chest, because they all could take an adventure of their own.”

Faith will also receive an autographed copy of Pirates on the Farm, so she may take an adventure.

Thank you  to all who entered, these stories were great fun to read.

PS:  Joey Sanders was a little mad that he did not win. However, his story about five pirates who settle on a farm sounded a little familiar.
