Amid the introductions, expectations, and procedures, every student in every elementary art class gets to use art supplies the first day of class. In first grade, this means spinner art.
The spinner project gives me the opportunity to introduce spiral and curvy lines, which segues nicely to our first “official” project the following week: “Primarily Foiled.”
Most importantly, my firsties adore this activity, and that is the biggest goal: to excite the kids about the upcoming year in art.
Note: I got the idea for this project from Pink Stripey Socks.
