I remain confident of this:
I will see the goodness of the Lord
in the land of the living.
Wait for the Lord;
be strong and take heart
and wait for the Lord.
Psalm 27: 13-14 (NIV)
McGraw Hill’s Dictionary of American Idioms (2002) defines take heart as “to receive courage or comfort from some fact.” I like the role of “fact” in the definition. It reminds me that despite my perception of current circumstances, I should take heart in Bible-based facts such as: God is good, he loves me, he is working things together, and he has overcome this world.*
“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33
In what facts do you “take heart?”
#TwoDoTuesday: Two words to meditate on. Two words to imprint on your heart. Two words to do.
*1 Chronicles 16:34, Romans 5:8, Romans 8:28, John 16:33
I take heart in the FACT that He is able, through His mighty power at work within me to accomplish infinitely more than I may ever ask or think.
Ephesians 3: 20
Agreed! And in our kiddos, too. 🙂
